The Purpose of a Retaining Wall
A retaining wall is a structure that holds back soil or rock from a property. It is typically built to prevent erosion, but can also be used for drainage purposes or to create level areas in a sloped yard. A properly built retaining wall will last many years and can even increase the value of your property while adding usable space. There are several reasons you might need a retaining wall on your Omaha property:
If your property is located on a slope, a retaining wall can help to prevent soil erosion. Erosion can damage your landscaping and, over time, lead to serious foundation problems.
A retaining wall can also be used to create a drainage system on your property. This is especially important in areas that are prone to flooding.
If you have a sloped yard, a retaining wall can be used to create level areas. This is often done in order to create a flat surface for a patio or deck.
Types of Retaining Walls
We use only the finest natural limestone and modular block available to construct durable one-of-a-kind retaining walls for Omaha homes. There are several different types of retaining walls that can be used on your Omaha property. The type of wall you choose will depend on the purpose of the wall, the amount of space you have, and your budget. These types include:
Brick is a popular choice for retaining walls because it is attractive and relatively inexpensive. Brick is also sturdy and will last for a long time on your property.
Pavers are a type of brick that is often used for retaining walls. They are slightly more expensive than regular bricks but are also more durable.
Natural stone is a beautiful option for a retaining wall that adds visual appeal to your wall. Natural stones also have the most difficult installation process that we can handle!
Concrete is one of the most common materials used for retaining walls. It is strong and durable, making it an ideal choice for large or tall walls. Concrete can also be stained or painted to match your landscaping.
Timber is a good choice for smaller retaining walls. It is relatively inexpensive and easy to work with, but it is not as strong as other materials and may not last as long.
